Make the Right Decision
Now that the details of the awards are out it’s time for you to make the decision whether to enter or not.
Ask yourself “How can I not enter?” It certainly changes the dynamics from the usual question “Why should I enter?”
This annual event is the time to showcase who you are, what you have achieved and what you have contributed to your organisation and to the industry.
Yes, it does take some time to decide the following:
What category should I enter?
How best can I illustrate my achievements?
Once the decision is made on the category or categories move into the planning phase.
- Read the questions
- Understand how best to answer to give the judges a full picture
- Decide on the supporting documents you can provide
- Give yourself time to put together the very best response you can
- Be conscious that the content of your entry is all the judges rely on to decide whether you are worthy of being a finalist
The Dr. Seuss saying that is most appropriate here is “Sometimes the questions are complicated and the answers are simple.
Do not be intimidated but answer to the very best of your ability and be aware that the answers need to be comprehensive to paint the full picture.
This could be the best decision you have made in terms of your career so take the decision to enter, then put together an entry that will give you the recognition you deserve.
In conclusion another of the famous Dr. Suess quotations “Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.”
